Rafael & Jasmyn

Two young hearts in their third year of marriage. "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. ... Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." Ephesians 5:1-2, 21

Vacation Time

Hello Family and Friends!! July 21st

It is vacation time here! The metros are filled with children and their parents, and Rafa is finally enjoying sleeping in on weekdays. Jasmyn is still getting up early, but is happily continuing with Alief Institute classes and a couple private English students too. The other jobs she had applied to did not come through, but now the hope to work in Rafael Sr.’s business to help as a sort of financial secretary should soon be a reality. She will work mornings in the business while continuing to keep her English classes.

This morning and last night we attended a Family Conference at the Evangelical Baptist Church downtown and it was good to be able to attend. It had some good things to think about as a married couple and also for being a loving, guiding parent to our children. It is funny though because we are still hoping to wait until Rafa finishes his studies in the university to be having little ones running around. :) But today Rafa’s mom Nancy gave us the three baby blankets that she had found in the street market recently that really are beautiful. Guess we will have to keep them aside for a few years, we’ll see what the Lord has planned.

Furthermore, Rafa now has another year of the university. He, along with so many of his other classmates, did not pass two of his year-long courses this semester. It has been a huge let-down, please pray for encouragement and perseverance for him. Jasmyn found the final examinations very unjust, but maybe there is a good reason for him to slow down his schedule and have an extra year of the university. The result of this is also that next semester, that starts in two weeks, will be a very low-key schedule granting Rafa several afternoons and mornings free during the week. Yet we also rejoice when we found out that Rafa had the highest points of all the students in his clinic classes. Well, I suppose the book knowledge isn’t as crucial as the application in the clinic so that is a good sign for all those family and friends that are going to line up in Dr. Rafael Guarin’s office for your dental appointment. He he.
